Job Title: Technical Superintendent

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Technical Superintendent to oversee the day-to-day technical operations of our fleet.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the seaworthiness of our vessels, tracking reports promptly, analyzing performance and defects, and implementing effective closures. Additionally, they will monitor PMS compliance, propose database and system improvements, prepare annual OPEX budgets, control operating costs, and maintain validity of all certification and documentation.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Technical Operations: Oversee day-to-day technical operations and ensure vessel seaworthiness.
  2. Vessel Performance: Track vessel reports promptly, analyze performance/defects, and ensure prompt & effective closures incl. observations raised during internal/external audits n inspections.
  3. PMS Compliance: Monitor PMS compliance and authenticity. Propose database & system improvements.
  4. Budgeting: Prepare annual OPEX budgets. Control operating costs including fuel, lubes, consumables etc.
  5. Certification: Maintain validity of all certification & documentation. Liaise with classification societies & Flag authorities as necessary.
  6. Preparation: Prepare vessels for oil major vetting/Rightship inspections and ensure readiness.
  7. Performance Improvement: Monitor speed/cons performance, implement efficiency improvements.
  8. Compliance: Ensure compliance with Company IMS, with international regulations incl. ISM, ISPS, MARPOL, SOLAS etc and all flag requirements.
  9. Procurement: Coordinate procurement of spares and critical equipment with most cost-effective options.
  10. Projects: Plan and supervise dry-docking, repairs, technical projects including upgrades/retrofits and major maintenance. Prepare specifications, budgets, and timelines. Ensure quality control during repairs and maintain cost control.
  11. Training: Support onboard crew with technical guidance and training incl. new equipments.
  12. Inspections: Conduct periodic physical inspection of vessel for assessment of condition/crew/IMS.
  13. Incident Investigation: Investigate incidents and implement corrective actions. Propose improvement in procedures n Manuals.
Requirements:
  • Qualifications: Chief Engineer qualification required.
  • Experience: 10-12 years in the shipping industry on large sea-going vessels with an international trading experience and a minimum of 2 years sailing experience as a Chief Engineer.
  • Desirable: At least 2 years of shore experience as Superintendent.
