Dam Break Analysis Expert

This is a senior-level position that requires an experienced specialist in dam break analysis and emergency planning.

The ideal candidate will have at least 15 years of experience in hydrological and hydraulic modeling, flood routing, dam break analysis, inundation mapping, and the preparation of Emergency Action Plans (EAPs). They should have worked on at least 10 large dam projects, including inundation mappings and operational protocols for dams.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Leading the preparation and finalization of Tier-I documents following international best practices and national guidelines.
  • Providing technical support for the development and finalization of EAPs.
  • Facilitating stakeholder consultation meetings and reviewing plans presented by Project Support Teams (PSTs).
  • Designing and delivering customized training courses on dam break analysis, inundation mapping, and EAP preparation.
  • Conducting capacity building programs for DRIP Implementing Agencies (IAs) and assisting in the finalization of integrated operations of important or cascade reservoirs.
  • Undertaking need-based flood routing studies, conducting dam safety inspections, and managing related documentation and communication.
  • Developing and implementing training calendars and schedules aligned with the annual DRIP Calendar.
  • Contributing data and insights to the National Dam Safety Information System and Management Information System (MIS).
  • Supporting the development of in-house expertise at select academic institutions and participating in national and international conferences via technical paper submissions and presentations.
  • Assisting in the finalization and training of the Construction Supervision & Quality Assurance (CS&QA) Manual and Plan, and delivering Training of Trainers (ToT) for DRIP IAs.
  • Performing any other DRIP-related activities assigned by the Project Director, DRIP, CWC.
