Turing is seeking PhD-level researchers in Chemistry to assess the reasoning capabilities of large language models. Your role will involve creating complex chemistry problems, analyzing model responses, and identifying gaps in logic or understanding.

A Day in the Life

  • You'll design chemistry problems that push the boundaries of AI's understanding, review its responses, and share insights on how well it handles abstract thinking and structured problem-solving.
  • For instance, you might be tasked with:
  • A coal gasifier operating at high temperature uses a feed of steam and air to produce synthesis gas from pure carbon. Calculate the equilibrium concentration of a specific gas in the output stream at 1000 K.
  • Or develop a reactor model to estimate the maximum temperature reached in a plug flow reactor with stoichiometric feed and known operating conditions.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in or have completed a Ph.D. or Postdoctoral in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, or a related field.
  • Strong research and analytical skills are essential for success in this role.
  • Able to provide clear, constructive feedback with examples.
  • Strong written communication skills, especially in remote settings.
  • Comfortable working independently with stable computer and internet access.

Time Commitment and Engagement Details

  • Commitments Required: at least 4 hours per day and minimum 20 hours per week with 4 hours of overlap with PST.
  • Engagement type: Contractor assignment/freelancer.
  • The duration of contract is 1 month.
  • Selection Process: Task-based assessment for shortlisted candidates, followed by a contract offer with defined timelines and workload.
