Senior Biostatistician Job Description

The Senior Biostatistician is a key member of our statistical team, responsible for leading the development of statistical methodologies and providing expert consultation to projects across the organization.

As a seasoned professional in biostatistics, you will oversee the work of junior statisticians, ensuring that research studies are executed with precision and accuracy. Your technical expertise will be instrumental in reviewing proposed statistical designs, serving as lead Biostatistician on study projects, and participating in statistical process development and improvement.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Leadership and Direction: Supervise and direct the work of Biostatisticians, Associate Biostatisticians, and SAS programmers on clinical research studies.
  • Technical Expertise: Provide technical review of proposed statistical design for research studies and serve as the lead Biostatistician on one or more study projects.
  • Process Development: Participate in statistical process development and improvement, and present at statistical conferences.
  • Project Leadership: Lead the project team's development of study analysis plans and statistical programs, and ensure the scientific integrity of the research project.
  • Sample Size Calculation: Perform sample size calculation, develop study assignment allocation schemas, and review protocols and case report forms.
  • Communication: Develop the methods and results sections of clinical study reports and scientific publications, and represent clients at regulatory meetings.
Qualifications and Skills:
  • A Master's degree in biostatistics, statistics, or a related field (PhD preferred but not required).
  • At least 4 years of experience in related fields, with demonstrated proficiency in statistical methods and applications in clinical research.
  • Strong programming skills in SAS and/or R, with expertise in state-of-the-art data manipulation and statistical methodology.
  • Demonstrated ability to publish and present research papers in statistical methods development.
