Logistics Coordinator

Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced logistics professional to work in the air cargo department. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the smooth handling and transportation of goods from one location to another.
Key Responsibilities:
- Determine cargo contents and classify goods into different fee or tariff groups using a tariff coding system.
- Resolve problems with shipments by contacting vendors and claims adjustment departments, or arrange for repairs through service depots.
- Direct delivery trucks to shipping doors or designated marshalling areas and assist with loading and unloading goods safely.
- Participate in cargo loading to ensure completeness of load and even distribution of weight.
- Record shipping information into a computer, either manually or using a hand-held scanner that reads bar codes on goods.
- Estimate freight or postal rates and record shipment costs and weights accurately.
- Inspect and count items received and verify them against invoices or other documents, recording shortages and rejecting damaged goods.
- Route received goods to first available flight or to appropriate storage areas or departments, utilizing forklifts, handtrucks, or other equipment as needed.
- Assemble containers and crates used to transport heavy machinery or vehicles securely.
Requirements:
- Prior experience working in an air cargo department is essential.
- Familiarity with IATA certification is highly desirable.
- The ability to lift heavy objects and work in a fast-paced environment is crucial.
