Job Title: Head IP – Risk and Protection

Educational Qualifications:

  • Graduate / PG / PhD qualification in Engineering (Mechanical / Electronics / Automotive / Material Science) is required.
  • A WON certificate will be an advantage.

Experience:

  • At least 18 years of experience in a relevant field.
Purpose of the Role:

The purpose of this role is to review NPD designs and identify potential areas for IP legal risk, plan IP checks, and carry out risk mitigation. The successful candidate will also develop search strategies and perform advanced technology analysis including competitive intelligence analysis and design IP protection.

The role involves reviewing designs for IP and initiating actions to de-risk designs/products (current and future). This includes performing patent/competitor portfolio analysis for patent literature as well as non-patent literature and leveraging tools like IT and data analytics for effective search and analysis of IP.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Review NPD designs and identify potential areas for IP legal risk.
  2. Develop search strategies and perform advanced technology analysis including competitive intelligence analysis and design IP protection.
  3. Perform state-of-art analysis as required.
  4. Work closely with IP attorneys, legal associates, and close IP FTO opinion reports in a timely manner.
  5. Plan and conduct BOM FTO reviews for NPD at product level across automotive technology domains.
  6. Implement best-in-class practices, standardize processes, and enhance productivity through digitalization.
  7. Release periodic IP alerts - review and dispose concerns from stakeholders.
  8. Be well-versed with industry best practices, state-of-art tools for IP searches, and perform searches across multiple jurisdictions.
  9. Review and resolve claim interpretation issues in FTO with stakeholders.
  10. Maintain confidentiality of IP matters and systematically docket records.

Qualification in IP Law and a WON certificate will be an advantage.
