Job Description:

We are seeking a Senior Manager of Intellectual Property to partner with a global leader in the pharmaceutical industry.

This role will report directly to the Head of Intellectual Property and be responsible for leading a team of 5-8 IP professionals.

  • The position will involve working on a wide variety of intellectual property matters, including product clearance, patent filing and prosecution, patent litigation, licensing and due diligence, trademark clearance, and registration for key regions.
Key Responsibilities:
  1. Develop and manage the growing IP portfolio of the company
  2. Enforce IP processes to ensure timely protection of intellectual property and third-party partner interests
  3. Work closely with Global IP Head, Research and Development, and Portfolio teams to identify products for introduction into the development grid, devise effective product development strategies, and identify patentable inventions
  4. Draft patents, freedom to operate reports, infringement and validity analysis, risk assessment and mitigation strategies, and file and prosecute inventive solutions to build significant wealth of intellectual property
  5. Monitor and evaluate third-party scientific and patent publications, provide IP-related inputs for legal agreements and negotiations, and partner with other legal and business functions to provide strategic advice and strategy in connection with M&A transactions, licensing agreements, research collaborations, adverse proceedings, and litigation activities
  6. Manage patent, trademark, copyright, and related issues, maintain appropriate record architecture and content of the company's inventions, know-how, trade secrets, and registered intellectual property, and educate management and scientists on current best practices for the protection of inventions and intellectual property
  7. Lead, empower, and coach a team of IP professionals, prepare and manage the budget of the function, and have a PhD or post-graduate degree in Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, Sciences, or Pharmaceutical Sciences, with at least 13+ years of experience in a reputable global pharmaceutical company with team handling skills
