The role of a Business Intelligence Engineer involves organizing and reporting data related to sales numbers, market research, logistics, linguistics, or other behaviors. This professional utilizes technical expertise to ensure that the data reported is accurate and high-quality. Data analysis, design, and presentation are key components of this job, as they assist individuals, business owners, and customer stakeholders in making better decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Technical: Building highly efficient data reporting and analytical systems using typical components such as ETLs with Python and SQL queries on both SQL and NoSQL databases. Ensuring consistent optimization of performance and quality enables faster decision-making.
  • Dashboard Creation and Reporting: Developing dashboards and comprehensive documentation to effectively communicate results. Regularly monitoring key data metrics facilitates informed decision-making.
  • Business Metrics Identification: Identifying and analyzing key business metrics, offering strategic insights. Recommending product features based on identified metrics enhances overall product functionality.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborating seamlessly with Engineering, Product, and Operations teams to conceptualize, design, and construct data reporting and analytical systems.
  • Ideation and Analysis: Generating ideas for exploratory analysis, actively shaping the trajectory of future projects. Providing insightful recommendations for strategic actions based on data-driven insights.
  • Rapid Prototyping and Product Discussions: Driving the rapid prototyping of solutions, actively participating in discussions related to product and feature development.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's/Master's degree in engineering (computer science, information systems)
  • In-depth expertise in SQL and Python programming
  • Exceptional quantitative and problem-solving skills
  • Good command over analytical and visualization tools like Tableau, Metabase
  • Basic knowledge of data modeling, ETL processes, statistical, and ML techniques
  • Ability to work with cross-functional and dependent teams, think, and own end-to-end delivery
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
