Academic Support Specialist

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Academic Mentor to support students in achieving their full potential. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who want to make a meaningful impact in the lives of students.

Job Description:

The successful candidate will play a crucial role in shaping the educational experience of students by serving as a mentor, motivator, and guide. They will track academic progress, maintain strong relationships with students and parents, and help create a supportive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build positive, trusting relationships with students and offer guidance and support to help them excel academically and personally.
  • Organize and lead student activities, clubs, and programs that encourage both academic and personal growth.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and counselors to address student concerns, resolve conflicts, and provide necessary interventions.

Student Engagement & Mentorship:

The Academic Mentor will be responsible for:

  • Student engagement and mentorship, including building positive relationships with students and providing guidance and support.
  • Organizing and leading student activities, clubs, and programs that promote academic and personal growth.
  • Collaborating with teachers, parents, and counselors to address student concerns and provide necessary interventions.

Academic Performance & Support:

The Academic Mentor will also be responsible for:

  • Monitoring student academic progress and identifying challenges.
  • Providing necessary interventions to improve learning outcomes.
  • Conducting continuous assessments and evaluations to track student understanding of the curriculum.

Parent Communication & Collaboration:

The Academic Mentor will:

  • Maintain regular communication with parents/guardians to keep them updated on their child's academic and personal development.
  • Organize and participate in parent meetings and conferences to discuss student progress, challenges, and goals.
  • Address parental concerns and provide guidance and suggestions on how they can support their child's education at home.

Data Management & Reporting:

The Academic Mentor will be responsible for:

  • Maintaining accurate records of student attendance, grades, assessments, and behavioral observations.
  • Preparing reports and conducting data analysis on student performance and development for internal use and communication with parents and school leadership.
  • Utilizing Management Information Systems (MIS) and other educational software for efficient data tracking and reporting.

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Bachelor's degree.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with students, parents, and educators.
  • Ability to track and analyze student performance to provide effective support.
  • Proficiency in maintaining records and using educational software for reporting.
