DMSII Database Administrator

We are seeking an experienced professional to oversee the daily operations of DMSII databases. This role is responsible for ensuring optimal database performance, space utilization, and availability on Unisys mainframes.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Unisys DMSII database administration and a solid understanding of DMUTILITY, DMSUPPORT, and database reorganization tools. They must be able to perform installation, configuration, and administration of DMSII databases, monitor database performance, and manage sets, subsets, and indexes to ensure efficient data access.

In addition, the candidate will assist in capacity planning, ensure data integrity across environments, work closely with application and system teams to troubleshoot performance or access issues, participate in disaster recovery testing, and implement and maintain security, audit trails, and user access controls.

  • Strong hands-on experience with Unisys DMSII database administration.
  • Knowledge of DMUTILITY, DMSUPPORT, and database reorganization tools.
  • Understanding of journaling, quiet point backups, and roll-forward recovery.
  • Experience in performance tuning and troubleshooting database issues.
  • Familiarity with COBOL, ALGOL, or other Unisys mainframe application integration.
  • Knowledge of batch jobs, JCL equivalents, and operational support tasks.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • 3–5 years of proven experience as a DMSII DBA or Unisys Mainframe DBA.
