ADA Accessibility Specialist

Job Description:

The role of ADA Accessibility Specialist is a critical component of our organization's commitment to providing inclusive and accessible services. As an end-to-end owner of accessibility delivery, you will be responsible for ensuring that all digital platforms meet the highest standards of accessibility, including WCAG 2.1/2.2, ADA Title II/III, and Section 504/508 compliance.

Main Responsibilities:

Assess: Conduct thorough automated and manual audits of websites, portals, learning management systems (LMS), documents, and multimedia content to identify accessibility barriers.

Test: Perform real-user accessibility testing using screen readers, keyboard-only navigation, and mobile responsiveness to ensure seamless user experience.

Remediate: Provide clear and prioritized fixes, as well as hands-on remediation support for PDFs, Office documents, videos, and multimedia content.

Guide developers on accessible coding practices, including ARIA, semantic HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.

Prepare VPATs/ACRs and client-facing accessibility conformance documentation.

Advise clients on emerging US/state accessibility laws and regulations.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Strong knowledge of WCAG 2.1/2.2, ADA Title II/III, Section 504/508
  • Hands-on experience with JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver, TalkBack, Axe, WAVE, SiteImprove, Adobe Acrobat Pro
  • Proficiency in HTML5, ARIA, CSS3, JavaScript (React/Angular a plus)
  • Strong documentation/reporting skills
  • Experience supporting federal, state, or higher education contracts preferred
