Senior Import Operations Manager

We are seeking an experienced Senior Import Operations Manager to lead our import ocean freight operations.

  • This role requires a highly skilled professional with extensive knowledge of international import practices, customs clearance procedures, documentation, and INCOTERMS.
  • A successful candidate will have strong leadership and people management abilities, as well as excellent negotiation, analytical, and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:

The Senior Import Operations Manager will be responsible for:

  • Developing and implementing strategies to optimize import costs and improve efficiency.
  • Maintaining strong relationships with shipping lines, co-loaders, and overseas agents.
  • Overseeing pre-alerts, booking coordination, documentation, customs compliance, and end-to-end import shipment handling.
  • Coordinating with internal departments to ensure timely cargo clearance and delivery.
  • Ensuring compliance with all local and international import regulations, customs laws, and trade compliance requirements.
  • Managing and mentoring the import operations team – allocating resources, setting KPIs, monitoring performance, and providing ongoing training.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Strong knowledge of international import practices, customs clearance procedures, documentation, and INCOTERMS.
  • Excellent leadership and people management abilities.
  • Strong negotiation, analytical, and communication skills.
