Accessibility Specialist Job Description

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Accessibility Specialist to ensure our digital products meet ADA, WCAG, and Section 508 compliance requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct automated & manual audits for websites, portals, LMS, documents, and multimedia content using advanced testing tools and techniques.
  • Perform real-user accessibility testing with screen readers and keyboard-only navigation to identify usability issues.
  • Provide clear, prioritized fixes and hands-on remediation support for PDFs, Office documents, Videos, and multimedia content to ensure seamless user experience.
  • Guide developers on accessible coding practices (ARIA, semantic HTML, CSS, JavaScript) to maintain high-quality accessible design.
  • Prepare VPATs/ACRs and client-facing accessibility conformance documentation to facilitate smooth project implementation.
  • Advise clients on emerging US/state accessibility laws and regulations to ensure compliance.
  • Support quarterly monitoring & ongoing compliance programs to guarantee sustained accessibility excellence.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Strong knowledge of WCAG 2.1/2.2, ADA Title II/III, Section 504/508 regulatory frameworks.
  • Hands-on experience with JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver, TalkBack, Axe, WAVE, SiteImprove, Adobe Acrobat Pro.
  • Proficiency in HTML5, ARIA, CSS3, JavaScript (React/Angular a plus).
  • Strong documentation/reporting skills (audit findings, VPAT/ACR).
Preferred Certifications:
  • IAAP CPWA (Certified Professional in Web Accessibility)
  • IAAP WAS (Web Accessibility Specialist)
  • IAAP ADS (Accessible Document Specialist)
  • DHS Section 508 Trusted Tester
  • IAAP CPACC (Certified Professional in Accessibility Core Competencies)
