About the Opportunity:

Experienced accounting professionals are required to manage a portfolio of commercial properties, ensuring compliance with lender, tax, and investor requirements. Effective collaboration with property teams, accounting platform users, and other department members is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Property Level Accounting:
  • Oversight of 3rd party property teams involves reviewing their accounting work for consistency, accuracy, and adherence to regulatory standards.
  • Cash flows, rent rolls, lease maintenance, financial reports, annual budgets, and quarterly re-projections are managed effectively.
  • Support is provided to 3rd party MRI users, operating and tax escalations are reviewed, and unaudited financial reports are prepared.
  • Audits are conducted, audited financial statements are prepared, and work is done in collaboration with construction professionals on development projects.
  • Ad-hoc financial analysis and reporting are prepared as needed.

Joint Venture Accounting:

  • Operating agreements are reviewed and complied with, consolidated financial reporting is prepared, and management fees are calculated.
  • Income allocations, including waterfalls, are processed, and post-closing activity is monitored for true-ups with sellers and buyers.

Acquisitions and Dispositions:

  • Collaboration with acquisition and disposition teams involves reviewing diligence materials, settlement statements, estoppels, and closing entries.
  • Post-closing activity is monitored, and accurate records are ensured.

Skill & Experience:

  • 5-8 years of experience in property accounting for commercial real estate is required.
  • Familiarity with fair value GAAP, tax accounting, and IFRS is essential.
  • Proficiency in tenant recoveries (CAM), waterfall calculations, and loan compliance is necessary.
  • The ability to work independently, communicate effectively, and prioritize tasks is crucial.
  • Proficiency in financial software systems and Microsoft Windows software programs is required.
