Cardiology Transcription Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Cardiology Transcription Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our medical transcription team, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality transcripts for cardiologists and other medical professionals.

Responsibilities:

1. Transcription & Documentation: You will be responsible for transcribing dictated recordings from cardiologists for various procedures such as echocardiograms, ECGs, Holter monitoring reports, and more. Your attention to detail and accuracy will ensure that transcripts meet the highest standards of quality.

2. Report Management: You will prepare final reports in the required format for patient files, electronic medical records (EMRs), and consultant reviews. Timely delivery of transcribed reports is crucial to meet patient care and department deadlines.

3. Terminology & Accuracy: You will ensure the use of accurate and standardized cardiology-specific terminology. Understanding common abbreviations and shorthand used in cardiology dictations is essential. Inconsistencies or unclear dictations will be flagged for review by medical staff.

4. Coordination & Support: You will work closely with cardiologists, technicians, and clerical staff to streamline report workflows. Confidential patient information will be maintained in accordance with HIPAA/data protection guidelines. Support during audits or record requests by internal or external reviewers may be required.

Qualifications & Experience:

- Educational Requirement: A Bachelor's degree in any stream (preferably life sciences) is required. Certification or diploma in medical transcription is preferred. Minimum 12 years of experience in medical transcription, preferably in cardiology or diagnostic imaging departments, is required. Experience with speech recognition software is an added advantage.

- Skills & Competencies: Strong understanding of cardiology terms, investigations, and non-invasive procedures; fast and accurate typing (minimum 50-60 wpm); excellent listening and comprehension of medical dictation; strong command of English grammar and medical report formatting; familiarity with EMR systems and transcription software; attention to detail and confidentiality handling.
