Purchasing Manager Position

We are seeking an accomplished procurement expert to lead the strategic acquisition of aluminum scrap and ingots for our aluminum billet casthouse. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in the aluminum industry, with a strong background in sourcing and buying aluminum scrap and ingots.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Procurement Strategy Development: Develop and execute comprehensive procurement strategies for sourcing aluminum scrap and ingots from domestic and international suppliers.
  2. Supplier Identification and Onboarding: Identify, evaluate, and onboard reliable scrap suppliers, traders, and recyclers ensuring quality and supply consistency.
  3. Negotiation and Contract Management: Negotiate prices, payment terms, and contracts to achieve the best commercial value.
  4. Market Trend Analysis: Monitor market trends, LME pricing, and scrap availability, adjusting procurement strategies accordingly.
  5. Quality Assurance: Ensure quality standards of procured scrap align with billet casthouse specifications and production requirements.
  6. Logistics and Inventory Management: Coordinate with logistics, stores, and production teams to ensure timely deliveries and inventory control.
  7. Reporting and Record Keeping: Maintain accurate procurement records, supplier performance reports, and cost analyses.
  8. Vendor Performance Monitoring: Implement vendor performance monitoring and develop long-term supplier partnerships.
  9. Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure compliance with company policies, environmental regulations, and scrap handling norms.
  10. Cost Optimization and Internal Audits: Participate in internal audits, cost optimization initiatives, and supplier assessments.
  11. Monthly Reporting: Provide weekly and monthly procurement reports to management, highlighting price trends, cost savings, and supply risks.

Candidate Profile:

  • Bachelor's degree in Commerce/Business/Engineering (MBA in Supply Chain or Materials Management preferred).
  • 10+ years of experience in the aluminum industry, with minimum 5 years of proven expertise in buying aluminum scrap and ingot.
  • Strong knowledge of aluminum scrap grades, quality standards, and supply chain dynamics.
  • Established network of aluminum scrap suppliers and traders in India (international exposure preferred).
  • Excellent negotiation, vendor management, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to track and analyze global aluminum market trends and LME prices.
  • Proficiency in SAP (MM Module) and MS Office for procurement and reporting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for vendor and internal stakeholder management.
  • Will be based out of Mumbai, India, with occasional travel for supplier visits.
