Job Title: Data Engineer

The Role is designed to foster a collaborative environment where you can utilize your expertise in creating and maintaining optimal data pipeline architecture.

  • Work with data scientists to strive for greater functionality in our data systems.
  • Create and maintain events/streaming based architecture/design.

This role will require strong knowledge of performance tuning and optimization, particularly in handling large datasets efficiently.

Additionally, this position demands hands-on experience with dbt (Data Build Tool) for data transformations and data modeling.

Mandatory Qualifications:

Programming Language - Strong proficiency in either Scala or Python, focusing on writing data pipelines and transformations.

Big Data Framework - Expertise in Apache Spark, with the ability to write Spark jobs and optimize them for better performance.

Performance Tuning & Optimization - Optimize Spark jobs, handle large datasets efficiently, and have experience with performance tuning.

DBT - Must have hands-on experience with dbt (Data Build Tool) for data transformations and data modeling.

Other Requirements:

Proficiency in big data tools such as HDFS/S3, Spark/Flink,Hive,Hbase, Kafka/Kinesis, etc., relational SQL and NoSQL databases including Elasticsearch and Cassandra/Mongodb, and data pipeline and workflow management tools like Azkaban, Luigi, Airflow, etc.

Experience working with AWS/GCP cloud services, stream-processing systems like Spark-Streaming/Flink, and object-oriented/object function scripting languages like Java, Scala, etc.

Have worked at a product company, contributed to an open-source project, and have a few weekend side projects up on GitHub.

Also, must be able to build processes supporting data transformation, data structures, dimensional modeling, metadata, dependency, schema registration/evolution and workload management, along with working knowledge of message queuing, stream processing, and highly scalable 'big data' data stores.
