About Our Special Education Position

At our school, we are committed to providing exceptional special education and vocational training for children and adults with Cerebral Palsy, Autism, Learning Disabilities, Intellectual Disabilities, and Down Syndrome.

Our comprehensive approach includes pre-vocational and vocational training programs, supported by a multidisciplinary team of rehabilitation professionals who provide physiotherapy, speech therapy, and occupational therapy. We believe in fostering an inclusive environment that promotes social and academic development for all students.

As a special educator, you will play a vital role in supporting learners with multiple disabilities and guiding participants in our NIOS Program. Job Responsibilities:

  • Individualised Education Plans (IEPs): Develop, implement, and regularly review IEPs tailored to each student's unique needs, collaborating with parents, therapists, and other staff members.
  • Instructional Support: Deliver customized instruction to students based on their individual learning styles and abilities.
  • Curriculum Adaptation: Modify the standard curriculum to meet the diverse needs of students with disabilities.
  • Behaviour Management: Implement and monitor behaviour intervention plans, utilizing positive behaviour supports.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with general education teachers, therapists, counsellors, and parents to support students' academic and social growth.
  • Progress Monitoring: Assess and track student performance and progress regularly, adjusting goals as needed.
  • Classroom Environment: Maintain a supportive, safe, and inclusive learning environment that promotes social and emotional well-being.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Ensure accurate student records, including attendance, assessments, and communications.
  • Professional Development: Participate in training and workshops to stay updated on special education practices and instructional strategies.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education or equivalent in Multiple Disabilities.
  • 3-7 years of experience working with children and adults with multiple disabilities.
  • Patience, empathy, and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in using educational technology and assistive aids and devices.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with families and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Good organisational and documentation skills.
  • Fluency in English, with proficiency in Tamil language beneficial.
  • Familiarity with assistive technology and specialized instructional strategies.
