Manual Tester Overview

The Manual Tester role requires a meticulous individual to ensure the quality of software products. This position involves designing, documenting, and executing comprehensive manual test cases.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Derive thorough product requirements, technical specifications, and use cases to create detailed test scenarios.
  • Develop, document, and execute in-depth manual test cases for functional, regression, UI/UX, integration, and system testing.
  • Conduct rigorous smoke testing, sanity testing, exploratory testing, and ad-hoc testing to uncover bugs or inconsistencies.
  • Identify, document, and track bugs and issues using tools like JIRA, Bugzilla, or TestRail.
  • Reproduce issues and collaborate with developers to verify bug fixes.
  • Perform cross-browser and cross-platform testing.
  • Participate in daily stand-ups, sprint planning, and retrospectives in an Agile/Scrum environment.
  • Provide test estimations, contribute to test planning, and participate in reviews of requirements and test cases.
  • Collaborate with automation engineers to identify test cases suitable for automation.

  • Testing Tools & Platforms:
    - Defect tracking: JIRA, Bugzilla, Azure DevOps
    - Test case management: TestRail, qTest, Zephyr
    - Documentation: Confluence, Excel, Word
  • Testing Types Expertise:
    - Functional Testing
    - Regression Testing
    - UI/UX Testing
    - Smoke & Sanity Testing
    - System & Integration Testing
    - User Acceptance Testing (UAT)
    - Compatibility Testing (across browsers/devices)
  • Basic Understanding Of:
    - SDLC, STLC, and Agile/Scrum methodologies
    - API Testing using Postman or equivalent tools (optional but preferred)
    - Basic SQL for data validation and backend testing
    - Familiarity with DevOps environments and deployment workflows (nice to have)
