Job Title: Performance Support Specialist

The Performance Support Specialist plays a vital role in managing and resolving complex issues for the Technical Support team focusing on Performance and instance availability.

This includes being the last point of escalation within the technical support department. The successful candidate will be able to quickly gain an understanding of our platform.

This is a customer-facing role that requires strong interpersonal skills, in addition to strong technical skills.

To remediate outages or enhance performance on the platform, we utilize tools like BigData, Splunk, and Grafana to map out metrics and identify trends on transactional throughput, memory, CPU, job processing, and disk utilization.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Tune the database by adding indexes, maintaining tables and data, and understand execution plans to recommend better-formed queries.
  2. We review Java application code to point out and fix performance concerns.
  3. Bridging the gap between customers and internal teams (Development, Infrastructure, Networking, Hardware) helps reproduce performance issues and find root cause analysis.
  4. Experience with relational databases (e.g., MySQL, Oracle), Java programming, object-oriented design principles, memory management, scripting languages (JavaScript preferred, Python or Perl accepted), and advanced Unix/Linux skills are essential.
  5. Proficiency in analyzing java heap dumps and thread dumps is also required.
