Key Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Polymer Science, Paint Technology, or related field.
  • 6-10 years of experience in coatings, polymer industry, or adhesives.

Job Overview:

We are seeking a seasoned professional to lead our research and development team. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for developing new products, cost reduction projects, alternative raw material source development projects, and quality improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop new products, cost reduction projects, alternative raw material source development projects, and quality improvement initiatives.
  2. Coordinate new product development activities with cross-functional teams, including Application team, production, and QC.
  3. Initiate activities to improve the quality of existing products and derive new products with improved quality.
  4. Interact with other departments, such as production, to gain a deeper understanding of processes and execute trials.
  5. Evaluate and implement stage-gate processes for all new product developments.
  6. Provide technical support for production, coordinate with production department for troubleshooting, and provide technical assistance.
  7. Transfer technology by analyzing pitot data, coordinating plant trials, optimizing process conditions at plant scale with finalized processes and specifications.
  8. Conduct preliminary patent and literature searches on development projects and related topics, new inventions/applications.
  9. Identify new raw materials for cost reduction, process improvement, and new technologies to create green products.
  10. Foster safe laboratory working practices, document project works, maintain ISO Quality standards, and assist with internal/external lab documentation.
  11. Support QC: develop technical documents as per lMS, assist with measuring systems.
  12. Assist Marketing team: support field trials, address field queries, and provide benchmarking reports for competition products. Establish products with issues.

Required Skills & Knowledge:

  • Proficient knowledge of materials, including resins, substrates (metal, wood, etc.) in coating applications.
  • Experience in formulating chemistry and synthesizing solvent-based coatings and water-based coatings for anti-corrosive coatings, wood coatings, adhesives, pigments, and color matching techniques.
