
Leading Claims Handling Specialist

Job Summary:
- Moderate and handle all legitimate issues concerning claims matters, including outstanding freight, detention, and demurrage.
- Deal with various recovery actions, such as abandoned and longstanding containers, and recoverable costs and expenses.
Handle new claims within 24 hours of receiving claim notification.
- Gather all relevant documents and report to HO all claims within 24 hours.
- Advise on the merits of the claim and future steps to be taken.
- Monitor and assist HO claims as well as other colleagues in handling claims and court cases until its closure.
- Monitor and handle all P&I related matters, such as cargo claims, GA stowage, etc.
- Handle third-party damages to CMA CGM containers and cargo, including stevedore damages, and ensure prompt reserves are taken against such third parties.
- Deal with various recovery actions, such as outstanding freight, detention, and demurrage.
- Handle Debt Recoveries in accordance with NCLT tribunal.
- Drafting and vetting Service Agreements and drafting MOU, Letters of Intent, agreements, etc.
- Implement Head Office Legal Department procedures within the network of CMA CGM India.
- Provide guidance to branch offices within India on legal matters.
- Provide legal advice and assist other Departments of CMA CGM on shipping-related issues.
- Handle loss of OB/L cases and apply Bank Guarantee procedures implemented by the Head Office Documentation Department.
- Provide monthly reports highlighting issues that require intervention.
- Monitor and handle court cases, appeals, writ petitions, and actions initiated by authorities.
- Appoint and liaise with surveyors and outside counsels, negotiating reasonable expenses.
- Recommend improvements to the claims handling process and procedures.
- Monitor and report on Indian case law and regulations impacting on CMA CGM scope of activity.
