Lead Microbiology Specialist

We are seeking a seasoned Lead Microbiology Specialist to oversee our microbiology department, driving laboratory operations and ensuring precise diagnostic testing for infectious diseases.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Laboratory Management: Manage daily laboratory operations, enforcing quality control measures and maintaining accurate records.
  • Infection Control Expertise: Develop and implement infection control policies and procedures, adhering to healthcare regulations and reducing the risk of hospital-acquired infections.
  • Clinical Collaboration: Work closely with clinicians to provide guidance on treatment strategies based on microbiological findings, promoting evidence-based practice.
  • Research and Development: Conduct research on emerging infectious diseases, antibiotic resistance, and infection control techniques to enhance patient outcomes and inform best practices.
  • Training and Education: Design and deliver training programs for healthcare staff on infection prevention and control measures, empowering them to protect patients effectively.
  • Data Analysis: Monitor and analyze infection data to identify trends, develop actionable insights, and inform strategic decisions.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Advanced Degree: Bachelor's degree in Microbiology or related field required; Master's or Ph.D. preferred.
  • Professional Certifications: Certification in Infection Prevention and Control (CIC) or equivalent.
  • Leadership Experience: Proven track record of leadership experience in microbiology or related field.
  • Strong Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with ability to present complex information to diverse audiences.
  • Collaborative Mindset: Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills, with ability to build and maintain effective working relationships.
