About this Role
">- We are seeking an experienced Database Performance Expert to oversee the performance, availability and security of our databases across various platforms.
This individual will play a key role in designing scalable data architectures, ensuring high availability and supporting development teams with optimised queries and resilient data pipelines.
">Key Responsibilities:
">- Maintain, monitor, and tune production databases
- Manage high availability, backups, restores, replication, and disaster recovery strategies
- Ensure uptime and performance SLAs are met across cloud and hybrid environments
Data Architecture & Design
">- Work with engineering teams to model new schemas, optimize indexes, and review queries
- Implement and enforce best practices in database normalization, partitioning, and data lifecycle management
Security & Compliance
">- Ensure data encryption, access controls, and audit logging are in place and compliant with policies
- Support compliance initiatives with appropriate database controls and evidence collection
Required Skills & Experience
">- 10+ years of experience, including at least:
- 5+ years with database management systems (SQL Agent, SSIS, performance tuning)
- Strong hands-on experience with database services: AWS-managed services
- Solid understanding of SQL query optimization, execution plans, and troubleshooting slow queries
- Proven track record of managing production-grade environments with strict uptime SLAs
Nice-to-Have Qualifications:
">- Experience with NoSQL databases
- Exposure to CI/CD pipelines with database change management tools
