Job Description

Our ideal candidate is an experienced and skilled Senior Backend Engineer specializing in video, with a passion for delivering high-quality user experiences through innovative technology solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead complex backend projects that involve multiple engineers, focusing on performance improvements and migrations.
  • Work with multimedia frameworks like FFmpeg and GStreamer to manage various codecs and formats.
  • Design and implement scalable backend solutions for video processing features, ensuring reliability, maintainability, and performance.
  • Enhance video storage, retrieval, and streaming performance through caching and adaptive bitrate streaming.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to refine requirements, design solutions, and deliver impactful features.
  • Make thoughtful architectural and design decisions that balance immediate needs with long-term scalability and maintainability.
  • Mentor junior engineers by providing code reviews, design feedback, and technical guidance.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve production issues, conduct root cause analysis, and implement long-term solutions.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science from a top-tier institution.
  • Over 7 years of backend software development experience, with a strong emphasis on distributed systems and video processing.
  • Proficient in backend technologies such as Python, Java, or Go, with experience in building scalable, high-performance systems.
  • Extensive hands-on experience with video technologies, including codecs, compression techniques, and multimedia frameworks.
  • A proven track record of serving as a tech lead and managing complex initiatives within the team.
  • In-depth understanding of distributed systems, microservices architecture, and API design.
  • Strong experience in performance optimization, debugging, and scaling complex applications.
  • Experience in mentoring junior engineers and contributing to the technical growth of the team.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to handle ambiguous requirements.
  • Strong communication skills, enabling effective collaboration with cross-functional teams.
