Job Title: Ecology Team Lead

A key point of contact for UK-based business operations, liaising with senior directors.

Commercial management and reporting, workforce planning, and resource allocation for the team.

Supervising local delivery to support projects and assisting in the professional development of colleagues.

Providing operational leadership in project coordination and successful delivery of outputs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Act as technical liaison between teams.
  • Maintain health and safety, welfare, risk, information security, and compliance standards.
  • Manage projects, programmes, and finances effectively.
  • Represent team interests and champion client satisfaction.
  • Promote commercial excellence within projects and teams.
  • Provide technical guidance and oversight to team members.
  • Develop clear bid documents and communicate professionally with clients and colleagues.
  • Maintain high-quality work standards through robust review and feedback.
  • Collaborate to find solutions to challenges and promote a positive work environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Promote company values and charter within the team.
  • Interface with multi-disciplinary project teams.
  • Lead by example, providing inspirational leadership and direction for the team.
  • Identify opportunities for upskilling or recruiting new capabilities.
  • Seek regular feedback on team performance and implement changes.
  • Contribute to bids, marketing material, and process design.

Maintain strong colleague relationships and contribute to client satisfaction.

Contribute to knowledge sharing in internal and external forums.

Stay up-to-date with market and competitor knowledge.

Influence health and safety practices (Safety by Design).

Ensure quality of technical outputs meets WSP standards.

IDentify qualified staff to deliver projects within budget constraints.

Explore ways to add value and improve personal and team performance.

Manage opportunities, risks, and project changes/variations.

Qualifications:

Significant experience in Environmental/Ecology field.

Membership of relevant professional institution.

Ability to apply innovation and advanced techniques to contract solutions.

Successful track record of delivery in infrastructure development sector.
