Job Description:

Decathlon is seeking a skilled Public Relations Manager to join its Marketing & Communication team in India. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for driving the company's digital marketing strategies and channels, with a focus on acquiring new customers, retaining existing ones, and improving the overall Return on Ad Spend (ROAS) of marketing investments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage relationships with PR agencies to ensure alignment with our communication strategy and objectives.
  • Evaluate and provide feedback on agency performance.
  • Work closely with top management to understand business priorities and craft communication strategies.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, both internal and external.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive PR campaigns for product launches, company news, and significant events.
  • Coordinate with marketing and other departments to ensure integrated and cohesive campaigns.
  • Identify and capitalize on PR opportunities to enhance brand visibility and reputation.
  • Promote our sustainability initiatives and community involvement.
  • Secure media coverage and manage press releases, media kits, and other PR materials.
  • Develop and implement crisis communication strategies to manage and mitigate negative publicity.
  • Track and analyze media coverage, providing regular reports and insights to management.
  • Adjust PR strategies based on performance data and emerging trends.
  • Plan and execute PR events, including press conferences, product launches, and community events.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's/Master's degree in Public Relations, Communications, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in public relations, preferably within a consumer-facing industry.
  • Proven experience working with PR agencies and managing media relations.
  • Strong understanding of the Indian media landscape and experience in handling both traditional and digital media.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Creative and strategic thinker with a proactive approach to identifying and leveraging PR opportunities.
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Passion for sports and an understanding of Decathlon's mission and values.

Case Study Assignment:

This case study assignment is designed to assess your ability to develop and execute strategic PR campaigns, manage media relations, and handle crisis communication effectively. You are expected to demonstrate your understanding of the PR landscape in India, creativity, strategic thinking, and ability to align with Decathlon's mission and values.

Scenario:

Decathlon Sports India is planning to launch a new line of eco-friendly sportswear made from recycled materials. This initiative is part of Decathlon's ongoing commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility. The new product line includes apparel for various sports, catering to both men and women. The launch is scheduled for three months from now.

Task:

Develop a comprehensive PR campaign for the launch of the new eco-friendly sportswear line. Your campaign should include the following components:

  • Campaign Objectives: Clearly define the objectives of the PR campaign.
  • Target Audience: Identify and describe the primary and secondary target audiences.
  • Key Messages: Develop the key messages you want to communicate about the new product line.
  • Strategies and Tactics: Outline the strategies and tactics you will use to achieve the campaign objectives. Consider traditional and digital media, influencer partnerships, community events, etc.
  • Media Plan: Create a media plan detailing how you will secure media coverage, including key publications, journalists, and media outlets to target.
  • Measurement and Evaluation: Describe how you will measure the success of the campaign and what metrics you will use.
