Job Title: Workplace Standard Auditor and Trainer

The mica industry in India is a vital component of various global industries due to its unique optical properties, electrical insulation, and thermal insulation capabilities.

India is the world's largest exporter of mica, primarily sourced from Bihar, Jharkhand, Rajasthan, and Andhra Pradesh. While formal extraction methods are prevalent in Rajasthan and Andhra Pradesh, informal mining practices are common in Jharkhand and Bihar, often linked to issues such as child labor and poor working conditions.

The Responsible Mica Initiative (RMI) is a global coalition established in 2017, dedicated to creating a fair, responsible, and sustainable mica supply chain in India and Madagascar. RMI's work focuses on the Indian states of Jharkhand, Bihar, Rajasthan, and Andhra Pradesh, engaging companies, civil society organizations, industry associations, and governments to develop and implement integrated program pillars.

To support RMI's growth in India and strengthen their support for upstream supply chain actors based in Rajasthan and Andhra Pradesh, RMI seeks a highly motivated candidate for the position of Workplace Standard Auditor & Trainer.

The successful candidate will be based in Bhilwara, Rajasthan, India, and will collaborate closely with RMI's governance bodies, Executive team, members, and partners under the supervision of the Director of Programmes. Traveling to other districts, particularly in Andhra Pradesh and occasionally in Jharkhand, will be essential.

The mission of the Workplace Standard Auditor & Trainer involves supporting the Executive Team with the following objectives, focusing on the geographical areas of Rajasthan and Andhra Pradesh:

  • Conduct gap assessments of India's mica processors and mines against RMI's Global Workplace Standard (GWS)
  • Support processors and mine owners in implementing effective Corrective Action Plans (CAP)
  • Coordinate collective third-party audit protocols for RMI members
  • Liaise with RMI-accredited external auditing companies
  • Develop training content for auditors on RMI standards and conduct online or face-to-face training sessions related to responsible workplace standards
