Lead Data Modeler Job Description:

As a Lead Data Modeler, you will play a key part in building and optimizing domain data models, schemas, and supporting the delivery of high-quality, reliable, scalable data solutions.

  • Design and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models across key data domains
  • Collaborate with business analysts and SMEs to understand business requirements and deliver data solutions aligning with organizational goals
  • Perform data profiling, data analysis, define and implement target state data model for OLTP and OLAP applications for global retail business
  • Design and implement Data Vault 2.0 and dimensional data models on Snowflake data platform
  • Define source-to-target ETL mapping, data dictionary, data classification, taxonomy, data lineage, and data catalogue
  • Optimize and maintain cloud-based data stores and databases e.g. Snowflake, SQL Server, Oracle, and Azure Synapse for performance and cost-efficiency
  • Support the implementation of data quality, data security, data privacy, and governance practices, standards, and controls working closely with data architects, business SMEs, and Data Governance Lead
  • Help assess and improve the quality, traceability, and integrity of data across systems
  • Stay updated on emerging technologies and best practices, recommending improvements to existing processes and tools
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • 6-8 years of experience in data modelling, metadata management, and database management systems
  • Strong experience in Entity-Relationship, Dimensional (Star/Snowflake) and Data Vault 2.0 data modelling
  • Strong experience in SQL, stored procedures, functions, data partitioning, indexing, and clustering
  • Strong experience in designing and building Data Lake, Data Lakehouse, Data Warehouse, and Data Marts
  • Strong understanding on data integration and data migration approaches
  • Strong understanding of data quality, data governance, data lineage, and metadata management
  • Good understanding of data mesh or data product-oriented framework
  • Ability to operate in fast-paced, collaborative environments
