**Job Title:** Senior Database Administrator(Big Data)

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Senior Database Administrator to join our team. As a Senior Database Administrator, you will be responsible for the management and administration of technology in the area of specialty.

You will work with team members to ensure that technology is effectively supporting enterprise systems. Additionally, you will share knowledge and provide mentoring to other IT associates.

Key Responsibilities
  • Analyze existing database systems and recommend improvements
  • Work with IT Manager to establish database security structures, Sox compliance
  • Manage and maintain Cloudera Data Platform (CDP) clusters, ensuring high availability and performance
  • Administer and monitor Apache Kafka (open-source) clusters, including topic management, performance tuning, and security
  • Perform database administration for Oracle, MySQL, and PostgreSQL systems, including backup, recovery, and performance tuning
  • Develop and maintain automation scripts using Shell scripting and Ansible for deployment, monitoring, and configuration management
  • Collaborate with data engineers and developers to optimize data pipelines and ensure data integrity across platforms
  • Implement and maintain security best practices across all data platforms
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues across the data stack in a timely manner
  • Fix ongoing issues, act as an individual contributor, and take full ownership of the environment
  • Create and maintain database access systems including tables, indexes, views, stored procedures, and triggers
  • Administer database replication between servers, across Local Area Network and Wide Area Network
  • Tune and optimize database objects
  • Provide 24x7 on call support
Requirements
  1. Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Business or another relevant field AND a minimum of 6 years relevant experience OR equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
  2. Outstanding academics with the demonstrated ability to apply learned knowledge
  3. Fluency in English is required
  4. Experience with Relational or NoSQL database technologies
  5. Demonstrated ability to implement new technologies effectively
  6. Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills in a small team setting
  7. Consistently demonstrates quality and effectiveness in work documentation and organization
  8. Experience with Big Data Technologies supporting a broad variety of solutions including HDFS, Kubernetes, Kafka, Elastic, SQL Server
