Cloud Operations Engineer Role

We are seeking an experienced cloud operations professional to optimize cloud infrastructure costs and ensure the reliability of our services. As a key member of our cloud operations team, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining scripts/automation for cost reporting, resource clean-up, and efficiency improvements.

Responsibilities:

  1. Optimize cloud infrastructure costs by monitoring and analyzing daily/weekly usage, spending patterns, and billing reports.
  2. Develop and maintain scripts/automation in Python, Bash, or similar languages for cost reporting, resource clean-up, and efficiency improvements.
  3. Work closely with engineering and product teams to right-size compute, storage, and database resources.
  4. Implement reserved instances, savings plans, auto-scaling policies, and storage lifecycle policies to reduce spend.
  5. Leverage native tools like AWS Cost Explorer, CloudWatch, GCP Billing, as well as third-party monitoring platforms.
  6. Contribute to SRE/DevOps practices by monitoring infrastructure reliability while balancing costs.

Requirements:

  1. Strong hands-on experience with AWS and/or GCP services (EC2, S3, IAM, GKE, BigQuery, etc.).
  2. Experience in cloud cost monitoring & optimization.
  3. Proficiency in at least one scripting/programming language (Python, Bash, Shell, etc.).
  4. Understanding of SRE concepts: reliability, scalability, monitoring, and automation.
  5. Prior experience in cost analysis and optimization for enterprise workloads.
