Senior Cloud Architect Position

Are you an experienced Senior Cloud Architect seeking a new challenge? This role involves leading the evaluation and transformation of existing enterprise cloud setups, driving improvements in availability, scalability, security, and infrastructure automation.

You'll work independently to assess client cloud environments, recommend improvements, and implement changes safely. Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices are preferred.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Assess current-state cloud setups and deliver clear improvement plans.
  • Implement and maintain IaC across projects; establish reusable modules and guardrails.
  • Design/modify architectures using cloud services such as VPCs, subnets, Cloud NAT, Load Balancing, and IAM.
  • Build and run workloads on Kubernetes Engine and/or Compute Engine; containerise where sensible; tune autoscaling.
  • Configure cloud storage solutions like Cloud SQL, Spanner, Memorystore, and BigQuery as relevant; backup/restore, HA/DR patterns.
  • Set up Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) with policy checks and environment promotion.
  • Implement monitoring/alerting with Cloud Monitoring & Logging; SLOs/error budgets where appropriate.
  • Harden security (SCC, IAM least-privilege, org policies, VPC-SC, private access) and advise on compliance.
  • Optimise costs (rightsizing, committed use/Autopilot, storage lifecycle, data egress patterns).

Requirements:

  • 4+ years in cloud infrastructure with 3+ on GCP.
  • Strong knowledge of: VPC design, routing/NAT, load balancing, IAM, containers, Linux fundamentals.
  • Experience introducing controls: org policies, folder/project structure, billing budgets/alerts, SCC.
  • Proven ability to work independently, communicate clearly, and deliver safely in regulated/enterprise contexts.
  • Excellent English oral communication skills.
