Product Design Lead

A challenging opportunity has arisen for a highly skilled engineer to drive the end-to-end product design and development of consumer and industrial electronic products. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise, hands-on problem-solving skills, and leadership ability to guide a small team of engineers.

Main Responsibilities
  • Product Lifecycle: Concept design → prototyping → design validation → tooling → product launch.
  • Translate customer/market requirements into innovative and manufacturable product designs.
  • Key Deliverables: Detailed 3D CAD models and 2D drawings in SolidWorks with full GD&T and tolerance stack-up, design calculations, DFMEA, and tolerance analysis for robust product performance.
  • Design products in plastics (injection moulding), sheet metal, die-casting, and machining.
  • Drive material selection based on performance, regulatory compliance, and cost.
  • Ensure manufacturability, assembly efficiency, and cost optimization.
  • Innovation Focus: Hands-on experience with 3D printing and rapid prototyping to validate form, fit, and function, build and test prototypes to identify design gaps early in the cycle.
  • Preliminary structural analysis, drop, and reliability considerations.
Team Leadership & Collaboration
  • Lead and mentor a small team of mechanical engineers, providing technical guidance and design reviews.
  • Cross-functional collaboration with electrical, firmware, quality, sourcing, and manufacturing teams.
  • Vendor Management: Prototyping, tooling, and production ramp-up vendor management.
Requirements
  • 8–10 years of mechanical product design & development experience.
  • SolidWorks CAD expertise with simulation exposure (thermal/structural FEA preferred).
  • Proven ability to deliver end-to-end product designs from concept to market.
