Job Overview:

We are seeking a skilled Backend Engineer to join our team and contribute to the development of our live, regulated financial platform in the Middle East.

This is a full-time contract position focused on core features, transactions, and secure APIs that power a product built for real customers and regulatory scrutiny.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement backend services using TypeScript/Node.js.
  • Develop transactional business logic for financial flows (e.g. onboarding, withdrawals).
  • Create and maintain PostgreSQL schemas, migrations, and queries.
  • Integrate with third-party APIs securely (OAuth2, JWT).
  • Enhance existing systems for performance, reliability, and audit requirements.
  • Collaborate via GitHub and CI/CD workflows.

Necessary Skills:

  • 5+ years of backend engineering experience, preferably in financial services.
  • Strong TypeScript/Node.js skills, productive from day one.
  • Hands-on with AWS Lambda and serverless patterns.
  • PostgreSQL experience, schema design, performance tuning, real-world queries.
  • Solid understanding of building secure, documented REST APIs.
  • Able to work independently and communicate effectively.

Bonus Qualifications:

  • Experience with regulated systems (KYC, audit logs, compliance).
  • AWS Cognito and broader infrastructure exposure.
  • Terraform/IaC familiarity.
  • Understanding of polyglot environments as Kotlin may be introduced down the line.
