Key to a successful career as an AS/400 Systems Support Specialist is a deep understanding of system architecture and how various components interact.

Our client, a leader in operational technology (OT) with over 100 years of experience, seeks a highly skilled professional to support IBM AS/400 systems.

  • The ideal candidate will have 6-9 years of experience in supporting AS/400 systems, with expertise in COBOL, RPG III, RPGILE, SQLILE, and CLLE programming languages.
  • They will be familiar with documenting various AS400 environments, OS levels, and database versions, as well as system architecture diagrams including interface mechanisms with upstream and downstream systems.
  • The successful candidate will also have knowledge of technologies used, such as COBOL, RPG programming, DB2 databases, CL commands, and communication protocols specific to AS400.

Responsibilities include code walkthroughs of complex, critical, or error-prone COBOL and RPG code modules, understanding how the AS400 application integrates with other systems, and monitoring setup, including log directories and housekeeping processes on AS400 servers.
