Principal Engineer Electrical

ResponsibilitiesWSP ME team has ambitions to significantly expand our energy team. We have a range of roles available to suit people at all points of their career and development. We are seeking a Technical Expert with core expertise in Electrical domain with proven experience on HV Sub-stations, Wind and Solar Power Plants. The incumbent would be a proven leader with strong technical expertise who will be managing overall electrical team, enable timely and quality delivery of projects. Role relating to PE– Electrical for Power, Water, Renewables, and Transmission & Distribution projects.This includes (but not limited to):This role includes overall leadership of Electrical Discipline which will entail technical leadership responsibilities including technical, bids & proposals & people management (mentoring, training, team growth) etc. The candidate should have strong technical knowledge in both primary & secondary detailed engineering of EHV substations and subject matter expert at least one of them.Expertise in conceptual engineering drawings & designs (calculations), BOQs for Extra High Voltage (EHV) projects, covering both Air Insulated Substations (AIS) and Gas Insulated Substations (GIS), ranging from 11kV up to 400kV (with a particular emphasis on 132kV voltages and above).Expertise in HVDC engineering and design/review for large capex HVDC projects. Perform design review for electrical deliverables related to power, water, renewables and T&D projects while acting as a lead and directly interfacing with clients.Manage a team of engineers and designers in carrying out electrical design review and basic engineering works including sizing calculations, layouts, BOQ and provide necessary technical inputs to designers, procurement assistance in compliance with tender specifications and design basis, within budgeted man-hour and project schedules.Candidate shall have expertise in basic design/review of electrical substation facilities including Single Line Diagram, Protection Single Line diagram, General Arrangement layout, Sectional Layout, Erection key diagram, Direct Stroke Lightning protection, LT AC/DC diagrams, Lighting, ground mat design, Power One Line diagram, schematic diagrams, wiring diagrams, Panel GA drawing, BOM of P&C Panel, LT AC/DC diagrams.Preparation of project specifications for material and equipment purchase and installation.Experience in basic/detail engineering for renewable energy and battery storage electrical collection systems.Delivery of accurate and thorough designs that will meet industry standards and specifications, and meet good engineering practice with excellent constructability.Review of internal and external designs for code compliance, good design practice and constructability.Resolving site queries during the construction phase of projects.Maintaining complete project documentation with respect to substation design and construction, including all completion packages, as-built requirements and return data information.Making and maintaining appropriate commitments to project teams and coordinating design activities with multi-disciplined project team members.Assist in the preparation of technical inquiry requests (Inquiry Requisitions) to vendors, participate in the technical evaluation of vendor bid offers. Partake in Technical Bid Evaluations (TBE), review vendor drawings and documents. Review design calculations, ensure vendor equipment specifications meet with client equipment specifications and are within budgeted costs.Lead the proposal and bidding work for all power & network related projects.Collaborate with WSP ME office on project activities.Provide guidance and mentorship to less experienced team members.Engage in training sessions and meetings dedicated to addressing targeted organizational initiatives.Ability to lead the projects and deal the client with hands on experience in project management processes/activities.Willingness to visit client offices/project sites in ME as and when required.QualificationsPossess a Graduate or Post Graduate Degree in Electrical engineering from an accredited institution.Preferably familiar with ME projects. 15 years of experience of working in a lead role on large size capital projects in India/ME while the ME experience will be an added advantage.Experience in Power, Water and Renewable e.g. solar, wind and BESS projects is preferred.Familiarity with software tools like Auto CAD, ETAP, PSS/E, ASPEN will be an added advantage.Experience of working on projects with Middle East Utilities like SEC/NGSA/TRANSCO will be strong differentiator.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Demonstrated leadership skills, Strong problem solving and analytical skills.Self-motivated and eager learner, aptitude to grow and develop within the field.BGV:Employment with WSP India is subject to the successful completion of a background verification ("BGV") check conducted by a third-party agency appointed by WSP India.Candidates are advised to ensure that all information provided during the recruitment process — including documents uploaded — is accurate and complete, both to WSP India and its BGV partner".
