Underwriter and Sr Underwriter Job Description The Underwriter and Sr Underwriter plays a crucial role in the mortgage lending process. This professional is responsible for evaluating loan applications, ensuring they meet specific requirements and guidelines. The role demands meticulous attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and excellent decision-making abilities. Reviewing credit reports to verify trade lines, derogatory accounts, public records, and credit reconciliation.Conducting thorough income calculations, including salaried income, business income, retired other income, and rental income.Verifying assets, including borrowers' bank account statements, retirement accounts, mutual funds, and other investments.Performing credit analysis based on borrowers' income, asset, liability, and collateral (4C of Underwriting) to determine their credit worthiness.Validating and processing loan documents on behalf of a Mortgage lender organization. Required Skills and Qualifications Minimum 3 years of underwriting experience in US mortgage.Sound knowledge of US residential mortgage.Exposure to underwriting processes & guidelines.Excellent critical thinking, problem-solving, and sound judgment.Analysis and calculation of qualifying income from various tax documents. Benefits This role offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic environment, develop expertise in mortgage underwriting, and contribute to the success of our organization.
