Academic ProfessionalThe role of Academic Professional will be required to design, develop and produce high-quality learning materials and deliver lectures across various modules or subject areas.Teaching Expertise The post holder will:Deliver engaging teaching sessions in line with approved programme specifications and ensure students are actively participating in their sessions.Maintain accurate attendance records for teaching sessions and collaborate with the attendance team to ensure digital registers are up-to-date.Develop and update teaching materials for units, including class notes and VLE content.Provide timely and constructive feedback to students within published deadlines.Support colleagues in identifying areas for improving student academic experience.Contribute to the development of module content and propose changes as necessary.Assessment and Evaluation The post holder will:Set assessments for students and ensure 90%+ submissions on time.Support the production of assessments and ensure they meet relevant procedures.Participate in unit standardisation meetings and provide feedback.Arrange formative assessments during the semester and offer constructive feedback.Mark summative assessments according to assessment briefs and provide timely feedback.Act as internal verifier to ensure assessed work meets quality standards.Lead internal verification to ensure marked work is accurately assessed.Student Support and Guidance The post holder will:Act as Personal Academic Tutor, providing group and one-to-one sessions with dedicated students.Address any student engagement or performance issues and signpost them to relevant services.Field pastoral requirements and refer students to specialist College services as needed.Monitor individual Learning Support Plans and liaise with specialist services.Quality Assurance and Improvement The post holder will:Submit unit evaluation reports at the end of each unit.Contribute to Programme evaluations and continuous improvement initiatives.Engage with Programme Committee meetings and contribute to good practice identification.Reflect on student unit feedback and identify areas for improvement.Scholarship and Development The post holder will:Engage in scholarship to support teaching activities and stay updated on knowledge.Apply knowledge from scholarship to teaching and external activities.Leadership and Collaboration The post holder will:Coordinate with colleagues to ensure student needs are met.Manage projects related to own area of work and coordinate external activities.Exercise responsibility for unit design and delivery, considering established practices.
