Key Responsibilities and Expectations: The Designated Person Ashore (DPA) will play a crucial role in ensuring the effective implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the Safety Management System (SMS). They will serve as the vital link between the company and its managed vessels, guaranteeing that SMS meets international maritime standards. As part of this role, the DPA will be responsible for monitoring the safety and pollution prevention aspects of shipboard operations. This includes verifying compliance with ISM Code requirements through regular ship visits, internal audits, and addressing non-conformities and near misses. They must maintain an up-to-date understanding of industry regulations and best practices to continuously update the SMS. Furthermore, the DPA will provide technical support and guidance to Masters and shipboard staff, promoting safe and efficient vessel operation. They must maintain open communication channels with Flag States, Classification Societies, Port State Control authorities, and external auditors as necessary. Additionally, they will lead incident investigations, prepare reports, and implement corrective actions to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. Requirements and Expectations: Comprehensive understanding of the ISM Code, ISO 9001/14001/45001, MARPOL, SOLAS, STCW, and other relevant international maritime conventions. Knowledge of TMSA and vetting processes. Proficiency in MS Office and QHSE software systems. Excellent leadership, decision-making, and analytical skills. Ability to foster a proactive safety culture across ship and shore teams. Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. , The Role Offers: Opportunities for professional growth and development. A collaborative and dynamic work environment. Competitive compensation package commensurate with experience. Other Requirements: This position requires occasional travel to vessels and international locations.
