Job DescriptionThis role is part of the Network Operations & Reliability Engineering team within Oracle's Infrastructure Engineering Services (IES) and involves completing change requests, fulfilling service requests, incident response, and problem management. The candidate will also be responsible for creating tools that facilitate change validation, verify service health, and expose performance metrics.The team works closely with Oracle's SaaS customers to develop and support solutions, including supporting private VPN connections. Due to the globally distributed nature of the team, on-call shift coverage is generally specific to one shift/region, but flexibility is required as occasional urgent needs arise.Organizational Overview:Oracle Cloud continues to innovate, providing Autonomous Database and services to an ever-increasing customer base. Together, we are purposeful, industry-leading experts in engineering, delivering the next generation of cloud services centered on the Autonomous Database.Key Responsibilities:Participate in the design and architecture of network solutions, contributing to the development of standalone features and enhancements.Lead and support network build, upgrade, and migration projects as part of the IES Cloud Services transformation to OCI infrastructure.Implement, maintain, and support cloud-based Network SaaS components in alignment with SLAs/OLAs.Collaborate with program and project managers to define milestones, deliverables, and execution plans.Create and maintain runbooks, methods of procedure (MOPs), and documentation for network changes and operations.Required Skills and QualificationsTo succeed in this role, you should have a strong background in network engineering, with advanced-level expertise in multiple network operating systems. You should also have operational knowledge of internet routing protocols and core networking concepts.In addition, proficiency in network automation and DevOps practices is essential, with experience using tools and languages such as Python, Ansible, Chef, Docker, Terraform, Perl, JavaScript, JSON, REST, iControl, Bash, YAML, XML, and iControlRest.A deep understanding of Layer 4-7 protocols, including TCP, UDP, AH, ESP, SMB, RCP, TLS, SSL, HTTP/HTTPS, DNS, SNMP, SMTP, and SSH, is also required.You should have experience supporting cloud environments across IaaS, PaaS, SaaS, and LBaaS offerings and advanced experience in capacity planning, traffic engineering, and performance optimization for large-scale networks.Preferred Skills and Experience:Experience in network peering, design, customer provisioning, migration, and decommissioning is preferred, as well as working knowledge of databases such as Oracle Database, SQL Server, MySQL, or PL/SQL.
