As a Principal Data Analyst, you would be responsible for driving the vision and strategy for Analytics that will have customer problems at its heart. You should be able to break down big complex problem statements into smaller addressable units, can think future-proof solutions for each unit, and execute to high standards of quality. You will work on platforms that are highly modular and scalable in usage. At the same time, you should also be responsible in defining customer back capabilities so that the value to the customer and business is delivered frequently and consistently. – Be agile to deliver, fail fast and recover.


Your stakeholders include but not limited to – Engineering, Business, Marketing, Customer experience teams, Product teams across organization. In some of the cases, the stakeholders might extend to Finance and Regulatory teams as well. In short, coordination and managing the stakeholders across functions is one of the key areas you should be excelling in.


You will also directly manage a team of Senior Lead Analysts who will be responsible for execution of the vision you set. You will guide and mentor analysts at Airtel and shape the careers of your team. An important skill will be to identify strengths and opportunity areas for your team and setting up processes to ensure that they are set up for success.


Preferred Skills

  • An ideal candidate for the Principal Data Analyst role should have the following experience for min 8 years-
  • Set the vision for the analytics, clearly define metrics, reaching alignment across business, product and engineering team members and stakeholders, and of course "rock star" execution.
  • Do what it takes to launch new products and features, measure impact, and iterate constantly and quickly.
  • The candidate should have a strong understanding of data, governance, and analytics first principles. They should be able to define frameworks, establish data standards, and ensure compliance with data regulations.
  • A strong business acumen and the ability to align data initiatives with business objectives. They should understand the value of data-driven decision-making and be able to articulate the business impact to a variety of stakeholders.
  • Work with Product leadership to demonstrate the vision, update key milestones, or seek decisions. Your ability to communicate in a clear, crisp manner will go a long way in being successful in this role.
  • The candidate should have experience in product or services focused on analytics. They should be able to define roadmaps, prioritize items, and work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver valuable analysis first.
  • Strong analytical skills are essential to derive insights from data and make data-driven decisions. They should be able to work with Product and data product team to build hypothesis for the business.
  • Candidates should be able to work with various stakeholders, including domain engineering, data engineers, data scientists, Program managers and business teams, to understand requirements, align priorities, and drive successful analytics initiatives.
  • Should be adaptable and willing to explore new technologies and approaches to drive analysis and product development.
  • Identify the problem statements from the business and experience teams, break down the complexities into smaller units of capabilities, and drive this clarity across functions.
  • Adapt to the changing needs of the market and the organization. Be conscious of the ecosystem, organization strategies, and recommend the right course of action – call out trade-offs, but respect decisions.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • A computer science graduate or equivalent and hands-on experience in product analytics, as well as a technical understanding of data platforms. Having an MBA is a plus.
  • 8+ years of experience in building teams and taking analytical solutions to market as a Senior or Principal Product Analyst.
  • People management skills, having led at least 10+ members for a minimum 2 years.
  • Demonstrated ability to build analytics strategy and having worked on complex unstructured problems.
  • Hands on experience of working with multiple cross functional teams, and evangelizing insights to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Exceptional communication, collaboration, and ability to evangelize the product or feature.
  • A deep understanding of deaveraging frameworks, data management, MECE methodologies, A/B testing, and business intelligence technologies, with an inclination to experiment the product as a first customer.
  • Understanding of tech, architectural frameworks, data flows, and microservices that result in tech capacities.
  • Challenge the status quo, question the why, and get a deep understanding of the business and the products behind them.
  • An entrepreneurial mindset, end-to-end ownership of the work across stakeholders to achieve the desired objectives for the product.
  • High affinity towards data driven decision making, and data driven insights. Should be able to convert data to insights, and insights to ideas.
  • Effective prioritization framework to focus on the right features and capability to ship.
  • Data Expertise: Proficiency in working with large datasets, data structures, ETL pipelines, and feature modeling.
  • Data Visualization: Excellent data visualization skills to effectively communicate complex insights to a broader audience.
  • Problem Solving: Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to engage senior management with data-driven insights.
  • Leadership: Proven ability to lead a team of analysts, fostering collaboration, and driving success.
  • Communication: Effective communication skills, including the ability to work across multiple teams and engage with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Forward Thinking: Ability to identify opportunities for efficiency and growth, building roadmaps and executing strategic plans.
