Backend Engineer - Microservices SpecialistWe're looking for an experienced Backend Engineer to join our team.We're a fast-paced company that's changing the way people shop for secondhand furniture and home goods.About the Role:This is a great opportunity to work with cutting-edge technology and contribute to our mission of making secondhand first choice.Design, Develop & Maintain Production-Ready Services:We use Java 21 with Spring Boot 3.x for high-performance and scalable application functionality.Implement Cloud Persistence:We utilize Google Cloud Firestore as our primary NoSQL data store.Integrate Third-Party APIs:We integrate Firebase Admin SDK for authentication/security and Stripe Java SDK for critical flows.Develop REST APIs for Mobile Client:We design and implement robust, secure, and scalable RESTful APIs.Ensure Code Quality & CI/CD:We write unit tests (JUnit 5, Mockito) and maintain code quality standards enforced via GitHub Actions pipelines.Maintain Security Posture:We ensure API endpoints are secured using a custom Firebase ID token filter.Collaborate & Optimize:We work closely with founders to optimize services for performance and reliability.About You:Backend Expertise:You have strong proficiency in Java 21+ and extensive experience developing APIs with Spring Boot 3.x.Cloud Persistence:You have hands-on experience with Google Cloud Firestore or other NoSQL databases.API Integration & Security:You've proven ability to integrate and secure external services, particularly Firebase Authentication and/or complex payment platforms like Stripe.Testing & CI/CD:You're proficient with unit testing frameworks (JUnit, Mockito) and familiarity with continuous integration tools (GitHub Actions).Development Principles:You have a strong grasp of software design patterns, RESTful API design (OpenAPI/Swagger), and adhering to strict code style and quality standards.Curiosity & Willingness to Learn:You have a curiosity-driven approach and a willingness to learn new stacks quickly.Benefits:We offer a dynamic and supportive work environment.We believe in continuous learning and professional growth.,
