About the Role The Engineering Department at TAK acts as the central driver of product advancement, innovation, and customer-led improvement. The team is responsible for the following: Tracks market shifts and competitor innovation Owns product improvements and lifecycle management Works holistically as internal product managers Serves as the organisation’s technical interface for real-time user insights Lead customer trials and demonstrations Ensure product performance in the field We are seeking a dynamic Engineering Leader (Manager / Sr. Manager / AGM) with a strong Product Management mind-set to oversee the complete lifecycle of our Opto-Electronic Systems, including: Thermal Imaging Devices Night Vision Systems (Image Intensifier–based) Holographic & Reflex Weapon Sights Weapon Upgradation Kits Day Optical Devices Other related defence electro-optic solutions Individual will be the primary technical owner, driving product improvements, coordinating with OEM and in-house D&D teams, managing RFI/RFP submissions, executing trials and demonstrations, and enabling business growth through technical excellence. Key Responsibilities Product Lifecycle Management Own the full end-to-end lifecycle of all opto-electronic products including upgrades, customization, and obsolescence management. Drive continuous product enhancement working closely with in-house Design & Development and OEM coordination wherever required. Engineering Leadership Lead, guide, and mentor engineering teams to ensure high performance and delivery excellence. Represent Engineering in strategic reviews and contribute to long-term technology planning. RFI/RFP & Technical Ownership Take technical ownership for all RFI/RFP submissions, including compliance matrices, feasibility evaluations, and SAP-based inputs. Coordinate with Sales, BD, and Projects teams for technical clarifications and customer discussions. Trials, Demonstrations & Exhibitions Plan and execute customer trials, demonstrations, technical evaluations, and exhibitions. Capture real-time user insights and translate them into product upgrades. Reliability & Continuous Improvement Monitor equipment performance and failure trends, converting insights into engineering improvements. Support reliability, qualification, and environmental testing activities as needed. Requirements Must Haves:B.Tech / M.Tech in Electronics & Communication/ Mechatronics/Electrical & Electronics 8-12+ years’ experience in handling Opto-Electronics systems/Electronic systems/ determining system requirements for technology development, in client interaction and evaluation of techno-commercial offers or related role. 3+ years in team leadership or managerial roles Deep technical knowledge of Opto-electronics systems Proven experience in client interaction and technical coordination Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills Good to Haves:Experience with military-grade qualification, environmental & reliability testing Knowledge of global Electro-optic product standards Benefits: Opportunity to lead a high-performing engineering team in a strategic & high-impact role.
