Position Overview
The Concrete Technologist will be responsible for developing and optimizing concrete mix designs to meet project specifications, ensuring quality control throughout the concrete production process, and providing technical support to project teams. This role involves conducting laboratory and field tests, troubleshooting production issues, and ensuring compliance with industry regulations and standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of concrete materials and construction practices, coupled with hands-on experience in testing procedures and equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Mix Design Development:
- Develop and optimize concrete mix designs tailored to project requirements, considering factors such as strength, durability, workability, and sustainability.
- Quality Control:
- Implement and monitor quality control procedures during the concrete production process, including raw material selection, batching, mixing, and curing.
- Ensure consistency and compliance with industry standards and project specifications.
- Testing and Analysis:
- Conduct laboratory and field tests on concrete samples to evaluate compressive strength, slump, air content, and setting time.
- Analyze test results and make necessary adjustments to mix designs or production processes to ensure optimal performance.
- Technical Support:
- Provide expert technical support to project teams and contractors, addressing any issues related to concrete production, application, or performance.
- Troubleshoot production issues and recommend effective solutions.
- Documentation:
- Maintain accurate records of concrete mix designs, test results, and quality control activities.
- Ensure all documentation is up-to-date and accessible for project teams and management.
- Compliance:
- Ensure all concrete production activities comply with relevant industry regulations, standards, and best practices.
- Stay informed about advancements in concrete technology and update practices accordingly.
- Training and Development:
- Conduct training sessions or workshops for project teams, contractors, and industry professionals on concrete technology, best practices, and quality assurance.
Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of concrete materials, mix design, and construction practices.
- Experience with concrete testing procedures and equipment.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot production issues effectively.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to provide clear technical guidance and support.
- Proficiency in maintaining accurate records and documentation.
- Knowledge of relevant industry standards, codes, and regulations.
