Mechanical Testing Engineer RoleAt our laboratory, we are seeking a Mechanical Testing Engineer to join our team of experts in advancing fire safety through science and research. This role involves planning and conducting mechanical tests, analyzing data, and preparing technical reports under the guidance of the lab head.This is a core technical role ideal for someone who enjoys being on the test floor, working with equipment, and diving into data to understand how and why materials/components behave the way they do.Mechanical Testing & Experiments:We require the selected candidate to conduct mechanical tests (e.g., tension, compression, bending, shear, hardness, impact, etc.) as per relevant standards and internal procedures. They must assist in setting up test rigs, fixtures, sensors, and data acquisition systems.The Mechanical Testing Engineer will prepare test specimens, ensure correct mounting/alignment, and run trials as required. They will support the development and refinement of test methods and fixtures.Data Analysis & Reporting:The successful candidate will record, validate, and analyze test data with high accuracy. They will use basic statistical tools and engineering calculations to interpret results.They must prepare clear, concise test reports with data, graphs, and technical conclusions. The Mechanical Testing Engineer will maintain proper documentation and traceability for all tests performed.Equipment & Lab Practices:We expect the candidate to operate and perform basic troubleshooting on mechanical testing equipment (e.g., UTM, impact testers, hardness testers, etc.). They must follow preventive maintenance and calibration schedules as guided by the lab head / QA team.The Mechanical Testing Engineer will adhere to lab SOPs, work instructions, and quality system requirements. They must maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.Quality, Standards & Safety:The selected candidate will execute tests in line with applicable Indian and global standards (as trained). They must follow quality procedures for sample identification, data recording, and reporting.The Mechanical Testing Engineer will escalate any deviations, abnormalities, or equipment issues to the supervisor. They must comply with all safety guidelines and use appropriate PPE.
