**Database Administration Specialist**About the Role:The Database Administration Specialist will be responsible for ensuring the optimal performance and availability of our databases.Monitor database health, performance, and availability to ensure seamless operationsManage Astra DB Serverless environments in production to guarantee scalability and efficiencyImplement backup, restore, and cloning strategies to maintain data integrity and business continuityOptimize storage and query performance using Storage Attached Indexing techniquesIngest and index vector data for Retrieval Augmented Generation applicationsCollaborate with data engineering teams to design schemas and collections that meet business requirementsEnsure database security through role-based access control and encryption mechanismsMaintain compliance with internal and external data governance policies to minimize riskAutomate operational tasks using Astra APIs and CI/CD pipelines to improve efficiency and productivityIntegrate Astra DB with AI platforms and developer tools to unlock new business opportunitiesProvide production support and collaborate with DataStax support and internal stakeholders to resolve issues quicklyQualifications and Requirements:Proven experience as a Database Administrator in production environments is requiredHands-on experience with DataStax Astra DB and vector database features is essentialFamiliarity with GenAI use cases, semantic search, and vector embeddings is necessaryProficiency in Python or similar scripting languages is requiredExperience with cloud platforms and multi-region deployments is desirableStrong understanding of database security, performance tuning, and monitoring is crucialExcellent communication and collaboration skills are necessary for success in this role
