Manager / Deputy Manager Furnace Operation & PCI

Role & responsibilitiesJob Summary: We are looking for a qualified professional to lead and manage Blast Furnace and PCI (Pulverized Coal Injection) operations. The role focuses on ensuring furnace stability, achieving hot metal production targets, optimizing fuel rates, and maintaining high standards of safety and process control through automation and data-driven decision-making.Key Responsibilities:1. Furnace Operation & Control:Oversee day-to-day Blast Furnace operations ensuring stable and efficient process conditions.Monitor and control top pressure, gas distribution, burden descent, oxygen enrichment, and blast temperature.Achieve consistent hot metal quality and output as per production targets.Coordinate with Stock House and Cast House for burden charging, raw material sequencing, and tapping schedule.Support start-up, shutdown, and relining activities for safe and efficient furnace operation.2. PCI (Pulverized Coal Injection) Operations:Supervise PCI system operations for consistent and reliable coal injection.Monitor grinding, drying, and injection parameters through PLC/DCS systems.Optimize PCI rate and coke replacement ratio while maintaining furnace thermal balance.Coordinate with maintenance teams to ensure high equipment reliability.Analyze PCI efficiency and implement improvements in coal quality and injection distribution.3. Process Control & Optimization:Operate and monitor all key parameters through PLC/DCS/SCADA systems.Analyze gas composition (CO, CO, H), blast temperature, and furnace pressure trends.Take corrective actions for process deviations like hanging, slipping, or scaffolding.Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and reduce energy consumption.4. Safety, Health & Environment (SHE):Ensure compliance with all Blast Furnace safety standards and ISO (9001, 14001, systems.Conduct toolbox talks, safety audits, and near-miss reporting.Enforce LOTO, PPE usage, and safe operating procedures for Furnace & PCI operations.Promote energy conservation and emission control initiatives.5. Team & Coordination:Lead and guide shift engineers, control room operators, and PCI teams.Ensure smooth coordination with Hot Blast, Blower House, Stock House, and Maintenance departments.Conduct regular team training for process awareness and operational excellence.Maintain effective communication and documentation during shift handovers.6. Reporting & Documentation:Maintain records for furnace performance, PCI parameters, and energy consumption.Prepare daily and monthly reports on production, process deviations, and corrective actions.Participate in KPI reviews, process audits, and management meetings.Preferred candidate profileQualifications:B.E. / B.Tech / Diploma in Metallurgical, Mechanical, Production, or Electrical Engineering.Experience:Deputy Manager: 7-10 years of experience in Blast Furnace operation & PCI systems.Manager: 10-14 years of experience in furnace process control and iron-making operations. Experience in integrated steel plants and automation systems (PLC/DCS/SCADA) preferred.
