The Job Profile: Title: Manager/ Asst. Manager Piping

Role Purpose:

Oversee the efficient functioning of the Process & Piping team and provide all required support to ensure achievement of organizational objectives, client satisfaction while operating at optimum cost levels


KRA's:

'- Annual Resource Planning to support the organizational objectives through efficient resourcing and annual planning

- Managing Operations to ensure client satisfaction through adherence to project timelines, delivery and quality standards.

- Standardization and learning to ensure continuous improvement and drive efficiency across the complete value chain of the department 

- Team Management to ensure retention and development of all team members 


Technical Know-how:

  • 'Well aware of piping materials/ Lay outing & thermal stress analysis requirements.
  • Required good know how of piping support type, support standard & primary-secondary support selection, special pipe support etc.
  • Review the work request and obtain clarity related to scope, schedule, quality requirements etc.
  • Forecast work quantum, estimate man-hours & plan resources accordingly.
  • Responsible for plan, progress control, and report of piping design activities in project.
  • Capable to read & understanding or prepare project piping design basis based on client requirements.
  • Capable to prepare work procedures & checklists based on project design basis.
  • Conduct regular model reviews/meetings with team members to ensure highest level of client satisfaction.
  • Resolve the technical queries of subordinates/designers, guide them & conduct knowledge sharing sessions.
  • Co-ordinate and ensure smooth communication among stakeholders.
  • Identify client requirements, and technical requirements and assist the planning/sales team to create a techno-commercial estimation proposal.
  • Formulate and Improve department processes and policies to maximize output.
  • Responsible for the timely completion of the work targets through teams.
  • Process equipment Design & detail engineering including piping calculations, simulation, optimization, sizing/selection of equipment etc.
  •  Understanding of International Codes, standards, regulations for design, installation & Commissioning of process & piping equipment with its registrations (ASME, IBR, API, ASTM, JIS, AWS, BS, EN, NFPA etc.)
  • Selection and Application of materials
  • Design of heat exchangers, structures, platforms, supports, stairs etc.
  • -Preparation/review of PFD, PID, Project specifications, design calculations/analysis, Layouts, procurement specifications, technical evaluations,
  •   Operation sequence, set points, detectors, E&I aspects, control philosophies, HAZOP studies, operation-shutdown philosphy, O&M manuals etc.
  • - Understanding to conduct inspections, trails, adjustments, commissioning, performance tests, trouble shooting of process and piping equipment 
  • - Undertanding of Relevent engineering tools, software, planning tools, costing methods, inter-dependability, functionality etc.


Skills/abilities:

  • BE/ BTech/Mtech in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Advanced degree or professional certification is a plus.
  • Minimum of 13-15 + years of experience in piping engineering and project management within the EPC or Oil & Gas industry.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing piping projects from inception to completion.
  • Strong knowledge of piping design standards, codes, and regulations (e.g., ASME, API).
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Managing team of Lead Engineers/ Designers/ E3D

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with advanced piping design software and tools such as AVEVA E3D/ Auto Pipe/Ceaser, etc
  • Familiarity with global industry standards and best practices.
  • Experience in managing international projects and working with diverse teams
