The Creative Director is the visionary behind adapting Korean and Chinese stories into Indian settings. They ensure cultural authenticity, maintain storytelling quality, and drive the overall creative direction of each adaptation. This role will play a critical role in creating shows that become Pocket’s next blockbuster.

Adherence to launch timeline- 30%

Monthly content throughput management & QC- 10%


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the creative adaptation process of foreign stories, making them culturally relevant for the Indian audience while retaining the essence of the original by following the adaptation playbook.
  • Identify the right people via the right TA processes- writers & producers to be recruited for the show through their existing network and/or pool of talent at Pocket.
  • Hold the overall plot by collaborating with writers & producers to bring the creative vision to life making sure this resonates with Indian listeners (considering cultural, social, and linguistic nuances, impactful character names to capture audience)
  • Work closely with the production team to ensure the voice-over artists capture the intended tone and emotion of the characters.
  • Approve the final audio production to ensure the highest creative and audio quality.
  • Take full ownership of the audio that goes live on the platform making sure the quality is up to the mark.
  • Understand data and derive insights to be able to make decisions on whether the show is working for Indian listeners or whether the show requires rework.
  • Training writers & producers to ensure best output
  • Own the names of the shows and posters/ thumbnails
  • Episodic planning & line up to be created & approved
  • To be able to read and understand long novels that need to be adapted


Skills and Traits

  • Deep understanding of Indian culture, folklore, and storytelling styles.
  • Strong leadership and decision-making abilities, with a keen eye for details.
  • Excellent communication skills to bridge the gap between creative and technical teams.
  • Strong sense of narrative pacing, tone, and immersive sound design.
  • Ability to take data driven decisions
  • Strong network to be able to hire the right people for the shows
  • High rigor to ensure creative vision is being followed across multiple teams
  • To be able to justify the WHY for every creative decision
  • English and Hindi language proficiency: speaking, reading and writing
  • Decode the essence of characters, character arcs, story, storytelling, plots, conflict and longevity.
  • Have the ability to edit incase of requirement


Experience

  • 10- 15 years of experience in the TV, OTT space; Experience in mainstream TV is important.
  • Experience with broadcast channels is preferred.
  • Experience of casting & production at OTT/Radio channel
