Cyber Security Engineer Job OverviewAs a Cyber Security Engineer, you will play a critical role in protecting our organization's computer networks, applications, and data from cyber threats.The key responsibilities of this position include:Security Architecture & ImplementationDesign, deploy, and manage cybersecurity technologies such as firewalls, intrusion detection systems, endpoint protection, and security information and event management tools.Implement security controls for cloud, network, application, and endpoint environments to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of sensitive data.Develop and maintain secure system configurations and hardening guidelines to prevent vulnerabilities and reduce the attack surface.Threat Detection & Incident ResponseMonitor security alerts and logs to detect suspicious activities and respond promptly to potential security incidents.Investigate security incidents, lead response efforts, and perform root cause analysis to identify areas for improvement.Implement preventive measures to mitigate future risks and minimize downtime.Vulnerability ManagementConduct regular vulnerability scans and penetration tests to identify and prioritize remediation efforts.Work closely with IT/engineering teams to remediate vulnerabilities and maintain the organization's risk register.Ensure compliance with regulatory frameworks, including NIST, ISO 27001, HIPAA, and PCI-DSS standards.Policy, Compliance & GovernanceDevelop and maintain security policies, procedures, and standards to guide the organization's cybersecurity posture.Conduct security awareness training for employees to promote a culture of cybersecurity and ensure that all personnel understand their roles in maintaining the organization's security.Collaborate with stakeholders to establish and maintain a comprehensive governance framework that aligns with industry best practices.Identity & Access ManagementManage identity access management tools and enforce least-privilege access controls to minimize the attack surface.Oversee multi-factor authentication, single sign-on, and privileged access management solutions to ensure secure access to sensitive resources.Collaboration & DocumentationWork closely with IT, DevOps, and engineering teams to maintain secure environments and collaborate on cross-functional projects.Prepare detailed security reports, incident summaries, and audit documentation to support strategic decision-making and continuous improvement efforts.
